| Taiki : The Webcomic It is about a girl named Taiki and her life in her second half of high school and what it's like to discover her sexuality and the harships that can cause. Basically it's a 50/50 autobiography of my life. Most of it will be based on things that really happened while other parts are going to be there just for fun and to make it more interesting. | Q . Why a webcomic? A. Well I started designing the characters in 2003/04 and after a while they just started coming together. In the summer of 2006 when I started college I had a lot of free time and my friends kept telling me that they wanted to read the story I was always drawing the characters for. So I started the comic at first for just me and my friends to read and after a while other people started finding it and liking it, so then I decided to make it for everyone. Q. Why Taiki? A. When I was in middle school, I moved to a new school and got a new group of friends who were anime junkies like I was. The entire group had Sailor Moon nicknames for which every Sailor Scout they were most like. After I came into their group they decided that I was most like Taiki (Sailor Star Maker) because I at the time had long brown hair and glasses. xD The name just stuck and I'm the only one in the group that still goes by the nickname. Q. Why do you suck with your update schedule? A. I'm sorry about that, I really am. When I first started the comic, I had a strict M/W/F update schedule, but after I started my new college, that wasn't possible anymore. I am a full time graphic design student who works like 30 hours a week. I have many projects a week to do and I'm such an overachiever on them that it takes up a lot of my time. Sometimes I have to spend over 15 hours on just one project because I only own a laptop and doing 11x17 projects at 300dpi lags it like crazy. So even when I don't have time to update, don't think that I forget about it. It's quite the oppisite. I usually start freaking out and telling myself "oh my god.. I haven't update in __ days! My readers are going to hate me." >_< Q. Why is Taiki's hair white in the comic even though her hair is brown? Shouldn't it be darker since Alex's is also white and she's blonde? Taiki, Nikki, and Haruka are the main characters in the comic and originally I wanted them each to have a different shades of hair in the actual comic. Nikki's was obviously black and Haruka's is light grey so I made Taiki's white. I wanted them to have contrasting hair colors to each other. Also later in the comic they will eventually change their hair/hair colors so I wanted to leave room to make it more noticible since I already have it planned out. Q. What is that triangle thing that Taiki always wears on her shirt? A. Well since this is kinda based off of my life and Taiki represents me, I wanted her to have a symbol to represent my obsession with the brand Volcom. I love Volcom and since I can't use that actual logo, Taiki has the broken triangle symbol. Besides the fact that it's also like the logo for this comic now. xD Q. What's with the band? They don't even have a name. A. Originally the only 2 band members that were ever going to be shown was Kai and his best friend. I didn't have a best friend for Kai that I liked so I held the Design a Character Contest and Marco was the one that won first place. I liked the 2nd place and 3rd place winners so much that I wanted to put them in the comic as well, so I gave them minor roles as the other 2 band members that weren't originally going to be shown. The reason there isn't a name for the band is because it wasn't supposed to have such a big role in the comic and I never named it. Though I do like the direction it went and if anyone has any suggestions for a name, let me know. =) The reason I put a band in the comic in the first place was because at my high school there was a popular group of kids that did start a band and it was pretty popular among the students so I wanted to show that. Q. Why is there no link back to the webcomic on the forums? A. I can't put one on because it's a free forum account. I have to upgrade my account to put one on. And I would but I can't find how to upgrade or how much it is. Q. What do you do with the donation money? A. I put it towards advertising on other sites and to help pay for the domain that I own. None of it goes to personal use. Also, if I get more donations, I plan on investing in new unique products for the webcomic. Q. What's with the stuff in the stores? A. I have everything at the lowest price I can make it so I'm not trying to get money from people. lol I don't make money off of anything at my stores. That's just for people who would like products covered in my webcomic goodness. I would like to add more stuff to the stores but I have basic accounts in which I must pay to upgrade which I can't do unless people buy more things from them. Q. Are you gay? A. If you really want to know, I am a lesbian. Q. Are you single? A. I don't know why people keep asking me this. xD Does it really matter? lol Q. Why can't I see the links? I have no idea. I've done everything I can think of to fix this problem. After I updated the site for my first year anniversary a lot of people couldn't see the links even though I can see them just fine. Some people have told me that that they couldn't see them and once they updated their internet browser or changed thr security settings they could see them again. So I'm sorry and I'm trying to work with someone on redoing the site to be more user friendly. That's all I can think of right now so yeah... I hope I answered what you wanted to know. =3 |
